KIND-HEARTED staff and customers at M&Co in Milngavie have helped the company to raise £850,000 for life-saving cancer research.
M&Co staff have been working tirelessly to fundraise for Cancer Research UK since 2008 and the Douglas Street store in Milngavie has raised £2,672.
This cash was raised through a variety of activities, including taking donations of quality unwanted clothes in October this year where customers received a £5 voucher to spend in any M&Co store or online on purchases over £35 in return - more than £50,000 was raised through this.
Over 200 staff took part in the Cancer Research UK Race for Life fashion shows run by all M&Co stores, staff raffles, sponsored walks and skydives.
Andy McGeoch, director of marketing and business development at M&Co, said: “It is really fantastic that everyone has worked together to raise so much. We gave ourselves a target of £1million before July 2012 and we will strive to achieve this.
“Employees throughout the company, both in our stores and head office, have championed our fundraising and made a real difference to the amount we raised. I’d also like to thank our customers in the local communities for getting involved.
“M&Co is dedicated to helping the fight against cancer - we’re positive that the amount raised will help in some way with the fight against cancer.”
Claire Rowney, head of corporate partnerships at Cancer Research UK, said: “M&Co’s donation will help to pay for the world-class scientists, doctors and nurses at the centre of our research. Our vision is to continue to save lives and beat cancer.”
