Saddling up for charity

EASTERTON Riding Stables near Mugdock Country Park is holding its annual derby and fundraising day next weekend.

The two-day event on September 23 and 24 is now a well established highlight in the equestrian calendar with riders from throughout the district and beyond testing their skills and judgement over a series of jumps in one of three levels of competition.

The centre is a fully licensed riding school and livery yard, approved by the Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) and run by Rosemary Brown and David Ralston.

On the Sunday Easterton will hold its popular fundraising day, which this year is in aid of injured servicemen and women who rely on Erskine Hospital.

Easterton is located in beautiful countryside overlooking the Campsie Fells and offers year round tuition and livery services.

The family fun Sunday will include pony trekking and stalls selling cakes and confectioneries, bric-a-brac, raffle and refreshments.

Facilities at the centre include a large all weather floodlit outdoor arena, indoor floodlit arena, horse walker, cross country course, exercise track and an excellent hacking and tack room. Full details on www.eastertonstables.co.uk
