A FESTIVAL to celebrate the Commonwealth Games coming to Glasgow in three years time was held at Bearsden Academy with around 150 primary school pupils taking part.

The event is part of a series in a programme to raise awareness run by sportscotland and the Youth Sport Trust, in association with Glasgow 2014 - an umbrella organisation charged with promoting the Games through its Lead 2014 initiative.

The initiative, which ran in April and May, involved implementing Commonwealth Games themed sports festivals in schools.

At Bearsden Academy, children from Bearsden, Castlehill and Mosshead primaries took part in a day of activities aimed at developing leadership skills and harnessing enthusiasm for the Games.
