Maxholme Pre-School Playgroup has received a glowing report after a recent inspection by the Care Inspectorate.
The Bearsden playgroup’s key strengths were: Happy, confident children who are very motivated to learn. Effective use of the outdoor environment to enhance children’s experiences and a caring, welcoming ethos which enables children and families to build close relationships with staff.
An inspector said: “We found that the children enjoy learning and are achieving well.
“All the children arrive eager to play as they run delightedly to staff.
“They have formed warm, trusting relationships. This means they show a high level of care and respect towards each other.
“They are happy and confident moving between areas as they decide what they would like to do.
“Staff support children to be independent as children organise toys and equipment and move freely from outdoors to indoors in their play.
“The children enjoy playing outside, often for the whole session and they told us how much they had enjoyed working with the ranger at Mugdock Park to learn about hibernation.
“The family picnic also provided an opportunity for staff, parents and children to spend time together and fundraise for the playgroup.”
Following the report the playgroup has agreed to: Continue to develop the curriculum to ensure all children have enough depth and challenge across all areas of their learning. Support children and staff to have more regular conversations about learning and progress and ensure new approaches to planning further improves children’s learning.
