KILLEARN girl Jenny Stewart (S6) received a highly commended award in a prestigious competition for school pupils run by The Royal Scottish Academy.
Jenny’s painting Cherub was a study of architectural detail in acrylic. The painting also appears in the 2012 Kelvinside Academy calendar.
Glasgow Warriors invited a mixed J6 and Senior Prep team to play against Duncanrig Secondary at half time at the recent Warriors v Scarlets match.
The match started out a closely fought affair but KA quickly secured an early lead.
Just before the end of the match, Angus Stuart (SP) made an impressive run up the length of the pitch to score a second try. The match ended 2-0 to KA.
The victorious KA team were cheered on in the stands by many family and friends.
The evening was rounded off with a visit from the mascot who delivered a box filled with Glasgow Warriors merchandise including a signed ball and poster.
There were also photo opportunities with some of the players.
Congratulations to Melanie and Elisa Chiswell (S3) from Bearsden who competed in the Scottish School indoor athletic championships.
Both girls ran very well and were pleased with their times - Melanie in the 300m and Eliza in the 800m.

Wednesday – Junior School book fair is until March 8.
Thursday – Junior School visit the People’s Palace, RAF Air Experience Flying at Glasgow Airport, ISCO Oxbridge Evening.

Thursday - Scottish U18 hockey finals take place.

In the afternoon J1S are having an afternoon tea for their grandparents.
Tuesday - parents of J3 are invited to watch their production in the morning. Groups of Kindergarten pupils will visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
Wednesday - the annual Junior School swimming gala will take place in the afternoon at the Allander Pool.
Thursday - Mia MacDonald will lead assembly in the morning. J4G will visit the Glasgow Museum resource centre.
J6M will visit the Greek Orthodox Church in the morning and J6W will visit in the afternoon.
There will be a Home & School Association meeting in the evening at 7.30pm at the senior school.
Friday - the Glasgow Primary Schools Cross Country Championships will take place in the morning.
Saturday - the Junior 6 A and B rugby teams will be playing away against Hutchesons’ Grammar School in the morning.
