A NEW £455,000 roundabout at a notorious accident black spot in Bearsden is now open.
Motorists using Duntocher and Baljaffray Road will benefit from the new Langfaulds Roundabout which was delayed due to drainage problems and the need to relay underground power cables.
The project took four months to complete and has done away with the dangerous T junction joining the two roads that has been the site of numerous road smashes over the years.
Road engineers were desperate to finish the work before the end of the school holidays this week and its construction has caused long traffic delays for commuters.
Councillor John Dempsey, the vice-convener of East Dunbartonshire Council’s development and infrastructure committee, said the road works were carried out during the school holidays to reduce traffic disruption and welcomed the fact the roundabout was now fully operational before the end of the school holidays on Wednesday.
He said: “I am really pleased that this roundabout is now complete and that traffic flow and safety in this area is much improved.
“Whilst we did everything possible to minimise disruption, I realise that motorists using this road experienced delays during the completion of the works and I’d like to thank them for their patience.”
