Golf club members have welcomed a new arrival after a new facility was unveiled.

For the first time in its long history Kirkintilloch Golf Club has a new club pro and pro shop.

Class AA PGA professional Colin Fairweather comes to the club with 20 years’ experience in coaching, golf course management, retail, and golf operations.

A club spokesperson said: “His knowledge and influence is being felt throughout the club.

“Colin’s previous position was at Mentmore Golf and Country Club in Bedfordshire as director of golf, overseeing 36 holes and the estate, and his appointment at Kirkintilloch is further proof that the club is committed to positive development for the future.

“At a time when many clubs are under pressure due to falling memberships, the hard-working committee at Kirkintilloch, led by Captain Hazel Cunningham, looks continually for opportunities to bring new members and visiting parties to the club.

“Many local businesses have become sponsors of the golf club and there are four levels of sponsorship that can be enjoyed by businesses and their customers.

“A ‘family club’ since 1895, there are three generations of family members at the club who continue to play to this day and new members and visitors are assured a warm welcome on and off the golf course.” For more information call 0141 776 1256.
