AN amateur photographer from Bearsden has made the shortlist for this year’s national Nature Photography Awards.
Neil MacGregor has been nominated in both the Landscape and Scottish Wildlife categories with a total of three of his images being selected.
This year’s awards will be hosted by the Scottish Seabird Centre in Berwick and has attracted a record number of entries in its six-year history.
Part-time snapper Neil admitted his entry felt more like a shot in the dark when he first submitted his shots, but he couldn’t hide his delight when he got the news.
He said: “I enjoy nature and wildlife photography and when I saw details of this year’s Nature Photography Awards, I was keen to try my luck and entered the competition.
“I was delighted to learn that three of my images were shortlisted by two of the country’s top photographers and will be on show at the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick where the public can also vote on the images. If any Bearsden residents visit the exhibition, I would be delighted to get their votes!”
The judges for the event will be award-winning nature photographer Laurie Campbell and outstanding freelance photographer Graham Riddell.
The top 105 photographs have just been unveiled at the Seabird Centre where the public are invited to vote for their favourite until January 2012. The winners will be unveiled at an awards ceremony at the Scottish Seabird Centre in February 2012. For more information on the awards visit www.seabird.org
