MORE people are trying to quit smoking with the help of the NHS.
Numbers show that 228,353 quit attempts were made with the help of NHS smoking cessation services in Scotland between April 1, 2008 and March 31, 2011. The target for this period of 83,975 one-month quit attempts was exceeded by 5,100.
Fiona McLeod, MSP for Bearsden, is using the Boots cessation service in Milngavie after she quit smoking on Monday, October 24.
She said: “To stop smoking is one of the single most important actions someone can take to improve their health, and smoking cessation services in Scotland are delivering positive results.”
