DRIVERS face more roads misery due to an on-going gas mains repair programme in Bearsden.
Temporary restrictions are in place along Milngavie Road to allow work to be carried out by Scottish Gas Networks.
Roman Road and Roman Drive are closed at their junctions with Milngavie Road for the next three weeks.
Temporary traffic signals are being used to control traffic movements at the crossroads junction of Milngavie Road, Roman Road and Boclair Road.
The signals are being manually controlled between 7am and 11pm each day.
David Devine, head of roads and neighbourhood services, said “East Dunbartonshire Council has worked closely with Scottish Gas Networks to ensure road and pedestrian safety throughout the period of works to the gas mains along Milngavie Road.
“As a consequence of these works and in the interests of road safety the junctions at Roman Road, Roman Drive and Boclair Road will be subject to temporary traffic management.
“East Dunbartonshire Council has made every effort to ensure alternative routes and advanced notification of road closures are in place.
“Milngavie Road is a main thoroughfare and we ask residents for their continued patience whilst Scottish Gas Networks carry out this essential maintenance to gas mains.”
It is hoped that repair work will be finished by the end of March. Previously, it has seen traffic reduced to one lane in both directions outside Asda in Bearsden, causing lengthy rush hour delays.
