A REMARKABLE lady from Milngavie celebrated her 100th birthday last Wednesday with a party for her family at Oakburn Day Care Centre in Milngavie.
Betty McKenzie has lived in Milngavie all her life. She spoke to Herald reporter Laura Sturrock about her memories of the town over the years and revealed some of the secrets of her longevity, which she puts down to ‘working hard’ and walking up and down the stairs for exercise. Elizabeth’s maiden name is Moncreiff and she was one of eight children, with only one other surviving, her younger brother Robert (85) who lives in Canada. Her full story will be in next week’s paper - so don’t miss it.
