The newly revived Milngavie Week hundreds of people to the village and the organisers would like to thank everyone who helped to run it and took part.

When the Community Development Trust (previously Making the Most of Milngavie) consulted the community about improving life in Milngavie one of the most popular ideas was to bring back the popular Milngavie Week which were held every year without fail, for many years, until ten years ago.

This year the organisers said they would aim for a modest number of events but they ended up holding 23!

The week started with the Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games which attracted over 4,500 visitors, and ended with the Classic Car Show in Milngavie precinct on Saturday, June 18.

In between there was something for everyone including cat and dog shows, debating for school pupils, and competitions - the list goes on!

One of the organisers, Wilson Blakey, said: “We are delighted that so many people, groups and sponsors came forward to help make it happen.

“Feedback was so positive that we feel encouraged to begin planning in the new year for next June’s bigger and better festival.”
