A former photographer at the Milngavie and Bearsden Herald has gone on to produce a major television drama for the BBC.
Lachlan MacKinnon (40) who now lives in London, but is originally from Milgavie, was the producer of Burton And Taylor which was shown on BBC4 on Monday.
The former Douglas Academy student worked alongside Dominic West from The Wire and Planet of the Apes actress Helena Bonham Carter, who play the lead characters.
Lachlan, pictured, worked freelance for the Herald in the early 1990s while studying photography at Napier University, before going to the National Film and Television School.He then went on to work for Carlton tv as a trainee in London.
With credits like The Bill (2003-05), Lynda La Plante’s The Commander (2008), Spooks (2010) and the award winning Silent Witness (2011/12) to his name, the married father of one has a proven track record in the industry.
On his latest project, he said: “Burton And Taylor was a fascinating programme to work on.
“My role as producer was to oversee all aspects of the production from a creative and financial point of view.
“This includes working on all stages of the film from the development of the script, deciding on the casting and appointing the creative heads of department, to the production and post production of the film.
“This includes the editing, picture grading and sound mixing.”
The drama, the story of Hollywood’s most glamorous couple, available to watch on BBC iPlayer is set in 1983 when Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor acted together for the last time in Noel Coward’s Private Lives.
