Milngavie Music Club’s highly successful 2013/2014 International Concert Series comes to an end on Friday, April 25 with a riot of exotic sounds and infectious rhythms from the distant past.
Entitled ‘The Mediaeval Experience’, the concert features four talented young women from London called The Artisans, an exciting medieval and renaissance band.
They will perform the music of 13th and 14th Century Europe, from foot tapping Italian dances and enchanting French Troubadour songs to uplifting Iberian choruses and English carols.
The Artisans’ programme demonstrates the rich variety of surviving music from the middle ages, played on a fascinating range of period instruments including vielle, recorders, bagpipes, shawm, mediaeval harp and percussion.
Milngavie Music Club now has a large and growing regular audience who appreciate the high standard of its concerts and the friendly informality and atmosphere of the venue, Cairns Church in Buchanan Street.
Single tickets £12 (full time students £5, children free) are available from Milngavie Bookshop and The Iron Chef or phone 0141 942 3102 or at the door.
