Milngavie has talent!

MILNGAVIE folk have got talent - and they can prove it next Saturday at an award concert for up-and-coming entertainers.

Milngavie Town Hall is the venue on Saturday, October 8 for the Erne Parkin Award 2011 which was founded to recognise and reward fresh talent in the locale.

The judges will include a successful and well known local entertainer in a Simon Cowell type role while a leading events organiser will lend some Cheryl Cole flavour to the show.

Aside from the opportunity to showcase their talent, there will be a cash prize for the winner.

Singers, comedians, musicians - in fact all manner of entertainers are invited to register for the contest at barloch-com@hotmail.co.uk and entrants must be 16 and over.

Erne started the talent contests as part of the Mugdock Music Festivals and his son Michael has continued them as encouraging and supporting local talent was so very important to his dad.

Any profits from the event will go to Erne’s favoured charity The Suzy Fund which runs feeding stations for starving children in Africa.

The award event offers a good night out for just £7 so why not pop along to support the new talent and be entertained in the second half of the concert by four established bands, including Viking Galaxy.

Doors open 7pm for 7.30pm and a licensed bar will be operating. Tickets available from the Iron Chef.
