Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland has awarded a £1900 grant to Short Stature Scotland, which is based in Milngavie.
The non-profit organisation supports people with various conditions that cause short stature, offering friendship, support and advice to all people with short stature, their family, friends and any interested professional bodies.
Funds will go to website maintenance and quarterly events.
Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland is a grant making trust that supports and works in partnership with Scottish charities focused on improving the quality of life for people who are disadvantaged or at risk of becoming disadvantaged.
East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson walcomed the cash boost. She said: “The lack of acceptance within all sections of society for those of short stature is something I have campaigned on in Parliament.
“There is often unfair stereotyping and because of the stigma associated with the disability, children and adults with restricted growth conditions and their families face thoughtless discrimination.
“These funds for website maintenance and events will help promote public awareness of this widely misunderstood growth condition.”
