Medal haul for local swimmers in Glenrothes Spring Meet

Milngavie and Bearsden Swimming Club won the top club award in Glenrothes beating Warrender Swimming Club from Edinburgh by just three points.

The junior intermediate adn senior squad members joined forces at the Glenrothes Spring Meet last weekend and contributed personal bests with the squad bringing home more than 30 medals, 15 of which were gold.

Douglas Kelly topped the podium five times, taking the top boy award for his performances and broke a district and two club records.

There were also club records for Anna Smith, Zoe MacDonald and Iain Fletcher and a couple of first time National qualifiers in Ellis Shiels and Kiera Smith.

The 15 golds went to Anna Smith 100IM, 50fc 50fly; Douglas Kelly 100IM, 50fc, 50bc, 50fly, 50br; Paige Lang 100fc, 100fly; Iain Fletcher 100fly; Zoe MacDonald 100fly, 100IM, 100br; Emily Tang 100IM.

Eight silvers - Anna Smith 50bc, 50br; Iain Fletcher 100IM; Julie Williams 100IM 100bc; Michael Alcorn 100br, 100fc; Zoe MacDonald 100fc.

Eight bronze - Iain Fletcher 100bc, Emily Tang 100br, Michael Alcorn 100fly 100IM, Emma Williams 100br, Megan McCormick 100bc, Kiera Smith 100br and, Jad Muir 100br.

The coaches were Elaine Sheppard and Craig Houston.
