A 34-year-old man has been jailed for 11 months after a spate of car thefts at Bishopbriggs Leisuredrome.

Lee Scott of Springburn admitted breaking into a personal locker in the sports centre and swiping a set of car keys in June this year.

He then made off with a Nissan Qashqai car parked in the Leisuredrome car park while its owner, a woman from Lenzie, enjoyed a swim.

Scott, who had previous convictions for similar offences, pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He was caught on camera taking the vehicle,.

The lady said on a Facebook page at the time: “All on camera. See him getting into my locker and then clicking my key all round car park until my car opens. Then he drives off. Low life. Haven’t even had my lovely, hard-worked for car for a year.”
