Man arrested for ‘acting suspicously’

A man was arrested after he was reported for ‘acting suspiciously’ in the grounds of Milngavie Primary School at 6.15pm on Thursday, November 13.

Local officers who were nearby took this seriously as there have been a number of recent thefts including lead from the roof at Milngavie Primary School and St Paul’s Church, Milngavie.

The 42-year-old man ran away from the police officers and they chased him on foot through the streets and caught him outside Milngavie Railway Station.

He was holding several items which led the officers to believe that he’d been intending to steal from Milngavie Primary School and he was arrested.

He was subsequently interviewed and charged with another three additional alleged crimes of theft and attempted theft, all bogus related, which had occurred recently in the Bearsden and Milngavie area.

He was due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Friday (November 14).
