A TALENTED yoUNG singer from Balfron High has made it through to the regional final of a prestigious singing competition.
Fifth year pupil Lucia Fairfull, who lives near Killearn, competed with 200 other singers in her age category in the Open Mic UK contest.
She was one of only 25 who made it through to the next stage which takes place in Glasgow on Saturday, October 13 and she hopes to make it to the national final in London’s O2 arena before Christmas.
Lucia (16), who performed her own song called Leave at the audition last month, has been singing since she was 11 and started playing the guitar when she was 12.
She said: “It would be amazing to get the chance to sing in the O2, I’d be so proud.
“Initially I just wanted to get my voice out there but getting to this stage has made me even more determined to go further.
“I’d like to be a singer for a living so anything that helps to get me known will help.”
Lucia is inspired by singers such as KT Tunstall, Amy Macdonald, Emeli Sande and Paulo Nutini and her guitar teacher who helps her to write songs.
