THERE’S lots on at Mugdock Country Park again this weekend and next week starting with a veg planting lesson for families on Thursday, April 12 from 2pm to 4pm at Mugdock Plantaria. Cost £2 per pot, suitable for all ages. No need to book, just go straight to the garden centre.
Children aged five to nine can go on an adventure the same day, without their parents, through the woodlands and moors to explore thick vegetation, track deers and play games from 10am to 11.30am or midday to 2pm. There will be another chance to get the children outdoors on Thursday, April 12 for a half day course in exploring, tracking and surviving today from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Children aged nine to 12 will be looking at movement, wildlife, survival in nature, camouflage and concealment and taking part in lots of games and lots of fun. On Friday, April 13 children and adults can drop in anytime from 1.30pm to 3.30pm to find out how to identify animals from their skeletons at the skulls, bones and beaks event. Meet at the visitor centre.
The same day pre-school children can join in the Mugdock Music Olympics from 10am to 10.45am. There will be musical games, high jumps, dancing to teddy bear zumba and jungle jazz, a puppet parade and nursery rhyme relay, wiggling and giggling, followed by a balloon and bubble finale. Cost £4 per child.
There will be a Music Olympics event for P1 to P4 children from 11.30am to 12.45pm, also on Friday, April 13, with Olympic themed craft work to cheer the team on, lots of games, a musical instrument relay and a teddy bear zumba marathon - children can take their favourite teddy. Madcow Productions are going to perform “Pleasure without Repentance” with music and song tomorrow on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14 at 7.45pm. This multifaceted evening offers much fun and food for thought. Tickets cost £10. Booking essential, phone 0141 956 6100.
The popular children’s film Fantastic Mr Fox (cert PG) from the story by Roald Dahl is showing at the park on Saturday, April 14 at 2pm. George Clooney is the voice for Mr Fox with Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, and Jason Schwartzman. You can join the cinema club for free on the day.
On Sunday, April 15 all ages are being encouraged to try climbing on a seven-meter high rock wall from 11am to 3pm. Participants will be supported by climbing equipment and experienced staff to ensure you have safe fun. Cost £3 for five minutes or £18 for half an hour. The same day, there will be a puppet making workshop for all ages and abilities from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Sunday. Cost £2 per puppet. Drop in at any time, under 7’s must take an adult.
