Local kids show racism the red card

A SERIES of workshops designed to combat racist and sectarian views has been rolled out to youngsters in the district.

Primary 7 pupils from St Andrew’s Primary, Bearsden, and Balmuildy Primary, Bishobbriggs joined Provost Una Walker and Gordon Currie, head of education, in an event at Bearsden Academy to promote equality and toleration.

It was organised by Show Racism the Red Card who are working in partnership with the council and Jim Duffy the current Clyde manager, Derek Ferguson, ex-Rangers FC and Radio Scotland commentator, Airdrie United forward Paul DiGiacomo and Dunfermline FC Defender Steven Bell.

This partnership will see Show Racism the Red Card’s Community Education team and the personalities from the footballing world paying periodic visits to schools in the area over the next year to deliver important educational workshops.
