Youth budget invite

JO SWINSON, MP for East Dunbartonshire, is asking young people to take part in the Youth Budget and the ‘Chance to be Chancellor’ scheme.

Running until February 20 and open to all 14-18 year olds, it challenges them to make informed decisions about how UK’s finances should be run.

They are asked to give their views on taxation and spending, which will go on to be published in the Youth Budget 2012.

As well as offering up the chance to learn about the big issues ahead of the UK’s budget, there is also the chance to win prizes and a trip to HM Treasury for those who take part.

Ms Swinson said: “It’s a great opportunity to have a say on real government policies. Decisions made by the government in this year’s Budget will be extremely important so I hope young people take this opportunity to contribute to the Youth Budget.”
