Young Bearsden actor nominated for junior BAFTA

A TALENTED young actor from Bearsden has been nominated for a junior BAFTA for playing a young Paul Ferris in the film The Wee Man.

Daniel Kerr (12) landed the major role as the former gangland figure under the representation of Scream Management Kids agency.

The Bearsden Academy pupil was also in the running for the accolade of best new actor of the year for The Wee Man which was directed by the Silver Rose award-winning director Ray Burdis.

With a cast boasting names such as Martin Compston, Denis Lawson, John Hannah, and Patrick Bergin the film follows the journey of Ferris as he grows up.

Brought up in the notorious area of Blackhill, Glasgow, he was the son of decent, hardworking, parents but he soon learns that life on the street is tough.

Daniel is also going to appear in the Disney film ‘Malificent’, a re-telling of the classic ‘Sleeping Beauty’ story, next year with Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.

He also appeared in the popular BBC school drama series Waterloo Road as a young boy called Ewan and as Decky in Touchpaper West’s series 5 of Being Human and acted alongside The Royle Family’s Ricky Tomlinson in the ITV’s Great Night Out.
