The recycling centre at Asda in Bearsden will be closed for the next eight weeks, while the supermarket carries out building work on its store.
People are being urged to use alternative recycling sites at the Allander Leisure centre, Glebe Car Park and the Baljaffray shopping centre during this period.
Councillor Ashay Ghai, depute leader of the council and convenor of neighbourhood services, said: “East Dunbartonshire has some of the highest recycling rates in the country and the site at Asda is particularly well used.
“We are fortunate in having plenty of other sites where people can take recycling items and it’s hoped to have the Asda site operational again in March.
“In the meantime we apologise to local people for any inconvenience this temporary closure will cause.”
Work is being carried out at Asda to create a petrol filling station.
