An award in honour of a much loved Milngavie musician is going to be presented to a
talented musician from the area next month.
Due to the success of the Erne Parkin Award event in October 2011 the Milngavie organisers, Jason McCabe (24), Colin McKenzie (24) and Erne’s son Mike Parkin (24), have decided to run it again this year - but they hope it will be even bigger and better this time.
They took out a year to discuss and plan future events in Milngavie, Bearsden and beyond for 2013 and 2014 and have plenty in the pipeline which they think Erne would be proud of.
This year’s Erne Parkin award is being held on Saturday , November 16 at 7.30pm in Milngavie Town Hall.
All proceeds raised will go to a charity which Erne supported for over 10 years -The Suzy Fund - which feeds malnourished children in developing countries.
So far they have organised nine acts mostly bands and solo singers and a comedy act who will compete and perform in front of four judges (all established musicians and performers) who will then decide the overall winner to receive a cash prize.
All ticket/bar sales will be donated to the charity. Jason’s employer Glengoyne Distillery are also providing some bottles and tour passes as a donation and there will be a Glengoyne raffle.
