ST MARGARET of Scotland Hospice celebrated the launch of its own monthly lottery this week.

The hospice which helps people from across the West of Scotland, including Milngavie and Bearsden, marked the new initiative on Monday and was attended by chief executive Sister Rita and hospice patrons Tony Roper and Peter Martin.

Sister Rita said: “By joining the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice Monthly Lottery, members will be helping us to care and support local people in their own community.

“Entering our monthly lottery is a great way to support the Hospice and help us to maintain the highest standards of care.

“We depend very much on the generosity of our friends within the community who support our events and fundraising campaigns.

“Our annual running costs are in excess of £4million and we must raise half of this – almost £40,000 per week ourselves.

“For this reason, we are looking at new ways of raising funds and we hope that by launching a Monthly Lottery it will generate a much needed regular income.”

The monthly entry is £5 and all participants have a chance of winning one of 14 guaranteed prizes with a top prize of £2000.

The first Hospice Lottery draw will be on Friday, May 10.

Entrants must be over 16 and a resident of Great Britain (excluding Northern Ireland).

Lottery Membership application forms are available from the Hospice, or by contacting the Lottery Office on 0141-435 7018, by e-mail on lottery@smh.org.uk or by registering interest on Hospice website www.smh.org.uk
