A former lawyer has published her second children’s book which was inspired by her son’s love of football legend Cesc Fabregas.
Emma Wood (41), from Bearsden, had her most recent book Dexter’s Football Journal published in paperback at the end of last month. It is also available on Kindle and has five stars on the online book store Amazon.
The former Bearsden Academy pupil said: “My son is 11 now but when he was younger he was obsessed with Spannish player Fabregas. He even wanted him to be part of our family.
“It is about a 10-year-old boy who has the same obsession with the Spanish footballer and attempts to persuade him to become his future coach.
“It is written as a diary over the footballing season and records Dexter’s attempts to meet his various goals. It is packed with match scores, summaries and training ideas.”
The book has been favourably reviewed in Books Monthly magazine and Books From Scotland. Emma, who was a lawyer for The Bank of Scotland before starting a family, also has a nine-year-old daughter and previously published Amilia’s Star in 2006. It was a fantasy book about a girl who owned a star and was aimed at girls aged 8-12.
The author is currently working on her third book, although it is untitled so far.
She said: “It’s a fantasy about a girl who visits a library and deals with issues affecting children.”
