Sky football reporter tells of his passion for Barcelona
Graham Hunter Evening at Mosshead Primary
FOOTBALL fans were in for a treat at Mosshead Primary when Sky sports reporter Graham Hunter turned up for a question and answer session on his life-long passion.
Almost 100 people attended an evening with Graham organised by the Bearsden school’s PTA and managed to raise an amazing £1,100 for the school.
Graham is based in Barcelona and is the only journalist to have follow the Spanish national team to both the 2010 World Cup and last year’s European Championships.
He held the audience rapt as he spoke about his great passion, Barcelona FC and the experiences of reporting on them.
Graham answered a wide range of questions from the floor about all things to do with football and sports journalism as well chatting about his recently published book Barca: The Making of the World’s Greatest Team.
One of the highlights of the evening was the raffling of a Barcelona top, signed by none other than Lionel Messi.
The much coveted shirt generated a great deal of interest and was eventually won by Ian Arnott who had driven up all the way from Largs to see Graham.
Teacher John McCooe, a self confessed football mad fan said: “It was a really entertaining and insightful night.
“I brought a friend along and we could have listened to him all night long. He told us all about players lives and the different relationship that journalists have with them in Europe.”
Organiser of the event, Mosshead parent Lawrence O’Neill was inundated with requests for tickets after Graham sent details of the event to his 64,000 followers on Twitter.
The PTA wished to thank everyone who attended and especially the support from Partick Thistle FC for donating a signed football and to both Hippo Beers and the West Brewery for their donations a raffle.
