Residents' fury at Cruden Homes
A HOUSING developer has angered residents in Bearsden by closing off a right of way path and digging a trench WITHOUT asking their permission.
While the Westerton residents are pleased that Cruden Homes is tackling the problem of drainage on its building site by installing a pipe they are furious about the way they have gone about it.
The path is owned by residents in Deepdene Road and none of them were informed that the work was going to be taking place and that the path would be closed.
As reported in a recent issue of The Milngavie and Bearsden Herald the gardens belonging to their homes were flooded because of a lack of adequate drainage on the nearby site where luxury homes are being built by Crudens.
One of the residents, who had to clean up her garden after it was flooded, now has an additional problem caused by Cruden Homes — soil has been piled up against her fence, damaging it in places.
Sharon Naughton said: "The path is our property, they should have asked our permission before starting work or at the very least informed us about what they were planning to do.
"This is the third fence I have put up because in the past they have been damaged by teenagers. I'm a single parent struggling to make ends meet, I can't afford to put up another one.
"The way Crudens are behaving is absolutely appalling, they have shown a total disregard for residents and don't seem to care about anything apart from making money."
Councillor Vaughan Moody of Bearsden South has also been shocked by the way Crudens has handled affairs.
He said: "This is Crudens continuing as a bad neighbour. No wonder they are generating anger and resentment on this and other issues.
"The local people and I are looking for Crudens to make good the damage that has been done."
Cruden Homes has now been in contact with Sharon Naughton to arrange for a repair of her fence and apologised for a lack of communication with residents.
