Red card for 516 pupils

A TOTAL of 516 pupils were excluded from classes in East Dunbartonshire in the school year which ran from 2010 to 2011.

The vast majority of these pupils were excluded for fixed periods of time - though no information was available on the number of expulsions.

Newly released Scottish Government figures show that a total of 26,844 pupils across the country were excluded for a range of offences, including extortion, stalking and attacking teachers.

That figure is down from 30,211 in 2009-10.
