Antonine Probus Club marked its 25th anniversary with a meal and guest speaker at Milngavie’s Cyan restaurant recently.
The club - for retired professional and business people that have worked or lived in Milngavie - invited Rev Iain Miller who gave a very entertaining talk on the ‘medicine of laughter.’
Originally the speaker was supposed to be BBC political editor Brian Taylor, but he had to be called away at short notice to cover the Cabinet meeting which David Cameron held in Aberdeen recently.
Tom Thomson, social convener, said: “We had 69 members in all which was a really good turn out. We invited the president of The Rotary Club and our sister group, The Allander Probus Club.
“Everyone who attended enjoyed the meal and the very entertaining talk.
“It was very good of Iain to step in at the last minute.”
Among the guests were five original members who were honoured for their long service to the club.
Mr Thomson added: “The five original member who are still with us were presented with a lapel badge by the president, Jimmy Wilson. At least one of them was in his 90s.”
