A MAJOR investigation is underway after police received a report of a man being forced into a car in Milngavie Road, Bearsden.

The incident happened outside a row of shops in the Kessigton area, near Asda, on Friday evening, February 1.

It is understood that the victim managed to break free and enquiries are ongoing.

There was a heavy police presence and the area was cordoned off on Friday night and Saturday.

Police have searched and sealed off a run-down farm near Port Glasgow, Inverclyde - and the Milngavie and Bearsden Herald understands that this is part of the investigation into the alleged abduction.

A Strathclyde Police spokeswwoman said: “Our enquiries are continuing.”
