The West Highland Way has it’s own poem which has been commissioned by the local tourist information centre in Milngavie (TIC).

Poet and author Thomas Craven, or Tam as he is know to his friends was approached by Louise and her business partner Stuart Dick to write a poem that would reflect the different landmarks along the 96 mile route.

Tam (64) has been writing poetry and short stories for almost 30 years and his observational style appeals to a broad cross section of people, as well as visitors to Scotland.

The former bricklayer’s life changed following a near fatal scaffolding fall in 1987 and he said he felt compelled to put pen to paper after this.

Tam knows Louis and Stuart through their printing company The Unique Company, adding, “This was the first time I’d been commissioned to write a poem. They gave me some guidelines of the places they would like mentioned, but left the rest up to me.”
