Outstanding teenagers in East Dunbartonshire could be set to be recognised for their achievements.
Nominations are now open for the 2014 Peter Buchanan Award for Personal Endeavour, which pays tribute to any young person who has, through exceptional determination and effort, overcome significant challenges.
The awards are named after the council’s former Project Officer, who died in July 2011.
Councillor Maureen Henry, Vice-Convener of the Education Committee, said:“Peter was an inspiration to our
young people, achieving much through his entrepreneurial leadership.
“We want to recognise and encourage those same traits in our young people and this award is a great way to do that.
“I would encourage anyone who knows of a young person who they feel should be recognised for their endeavours, to submit a nomination.”
The award is open to those between 13 and 19 years of age who live in East Dunbartonshire, or attend a local secondary school.
Friends, family and professionals are encouraged to nominate well-deserving youngsters at www.surveymonkey.com/s/PBAward2014.
If your nominee makes it through the first round and onto the short list, you may be contacted for additional information or clarification.
Last year’s winner was Maurice McDowall (16) from Turnbull High School.
The closing date for award nominations is Sunday, August 31.
