New look on the way for Bearsden Post Office

BEARSDEN Post Office is going to be transformed - with a new slick modern interior and longer opening hours.

The Post Office on Roman Road is going to become a new ‘main’ style open-plan branch as part of plans to modernise the network. And opening hours will be extended by five hours per week - on a Saturday.

There will be three serving positions - a mixture of two traditional screened counter positions and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter. This is a new concept for delivering Post Office services with Post Office products and services available alongside retail transactions during shop opening hours.

It will close for refurbishment from Thursday, January 17 at 5.30pm to Wednesday, January 23 and re-opens on Thursday, January 24 at 9am.

Regional manager, Sue Richardson, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Bearsden and we are confident that this new modern service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6000 branches, about half the Post Office network, converted to new-style branches.

The nearest alternative Post Offices are: Stonedyke Post Office, 143 Spey Road, Bearsden, Glasgow, G61 1LF and Summerhill Road Post Office, 104 Summerhill Road, Glasgow, G15 7JY.
