Milngavie MSP Gil Paterson has met with Glasgow Airport Managing Director Amanda McMillan to discuss the issue of aircraft noise affecting residents under the flight path in Bearsden and Milngavie.

Mr Paterson described the meeting as “constructive” and now plans to present effective ways to the airport boss to outline what he feels could be done to help the residents affected by extreme noise, particularly from night time aircraft.

He said: “I was happy to meet with Ms McMillan to discuss matters surrounding a very serious and long-standing issue affecting many of my constituents, particularly those living directly under the flight path in Bearsden and Milngavie.

“Ms McMillan was very receptive to me carrying out further detailed work on the issue of aircraft noise and bringing forward suggestions for the possibility of a constructive way forward.

“I will do this with the view of hopefully making progress that is of mutual benefit to both the airport and the community living under the flight path.”
