Local MP Jo Swinson cut the ribbon at a special opening ceremony of a newly
refurbished post office in Bearsden last week.
Ms Swinson, said: “I welcomed the news that Stonedyke Post Office was to be modernised and I was delighted to be there to congratulate the owner, Haq Nawaz, on his hard work and to formally open the new branch.
“The post office is vital to the community and I’m sure the new and improved office, and the longer opening hours, will be warmly welcomed by my constituents.”
Mr Nawaz said: “I hope our customers like their new post office and I’d like to thank Jo Swinson for taking time from her busy schedule to come here today.
“I’d also like to thank the local community for their continued support and use of the branch.”
Connie Hewitt, Post Office head of external relations for Scotland, said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents around this area of Glasgow and I am confident that this new modern one will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
She added: “This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
Stonedyke Post Office is at 143 Spey Road, Westerton. It is open seven days from 6.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 5pm on Saturday and 6.30am to 1pm Sunday.
