MP Jo urges youngsters to kick racism out
AN INITIATIVE aimed at combatting racism and sectarianism has been given the backing of MP Jo Swinson.
Show Racism the Red Card aims to encouraging school kids in East Dunbartonshire to put across the message that racism and sectarianism have no place in a civilised society.
Ms. Swinson has thrown her weight behind the initiatives creative card competition, which invites all youngsters to get across the message of tolerance and understanding.
The East Dunbartonshire MP said: “I would encourage all local schools to get involved with this competition, to get creative and inspired and produce work with an anti-racist or anti-sectarianism message.
“The quality of artwork produced by local young people is always very high so I’m sure the entries will be fantastic. Full details on how to enter can be found on the Show Racism the Red Card Scotland website at http://bit.ly/redcardcomp ”
Entries are welcome from individuals and class groups until January 25. To enter participants need to create artwork, poetry, short story/creative writing, music composition, multimedia presentation, dance/drama, research project or a t-shirt design. Scottish football clubs and organisations fully support the campaign and will attend the prize giving ceremony at Scotland’s national stadium, Hampden Park. Winners will pick up superb prizes and there will be commemorative certificates for everyone who enters.
