Milngavie gets staring role as new series of Bob Servant Independent kicks-off

A NEW series of the sit-com Bob Servant Independent - which had some of its scenes filmed in Milngavie - hit the tv screens recently.

The comedy show, staring Brian Cox and Jonathon Watson features Cox as a pompous independent wannabe politician campaigning to be MP for Broughty Ferry.

A BBC film crew descended on Milngavie to shoot scenes in March last year.

The former social work office in Stewart Street was turned into an election headquarters for the shoot which was seen by viewers on BBC4 at 10pm last Wednesday.

Popular precinct restaurant Cafe Alba also had a minor role in the series when producers asked them for a burger they could use as a prop.

The character, created by Neil Forsyth, first appeared in the 2007 book Delete This At Your Peril, which featured e-mail exchanges with internet scammers.
