Fire fighters in Milngavie are preparing to roll up their sleeves to take part in the National Car Wash to raise cash for good causes.

Firmly established on the fire and rescue service calendar, the event is their largest national fundraising event of the year.

Motorists are invited to take their car along and have it washed.

All fire fighters ask in return is for a donation to be made to The Fire Fighters Charity, the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.

Milngavie Fire Station Manager Steven Harper said: “Monies raised through national fundraising initiatives provide a real boost to The Fire Fighters Charity. “As well as being a fun and popular event for the charity, the National Car Wash also gives our fire fighters the opportunity to speak to people and to share important safety messages with members of their local community.

“I am delighted fire fighters from Milngavie are getting involved and would urge local people to come along and support the day.”

The car wash will be taking place at Milngavie Community Fire Station in Craigdhu Road, on Saturday, September 14, from 11 am to 3pm.

In addition, if people require a free home fire safety visit, they can either contact Milngavie Fire Station on 0141 956 2223 or freephone on 0800 0731 999.
