THE state of the former public toilets and pavilion at Lennox Park in Milngavie is so bad that it would be better to knock them down - according to one resident.

Vandals have hit the building which has been derelict for more than 10 years and it has been turned into a drinking den.

According to Prestonfield resident Allan Crossley the structure is so bad that “even the vandals aren’t interested in vandalising it anymore.”

The retired teacher (64), who has lived in the area for more than 20 years, and who regularly walks his dog there, added: “I just feel that the local authority should do something about it. If they are not going to maintain it, it would be better to demolish it. At least the area would look much nicer.”

Head of assets and property services at East Dunbartonshire Council, Grace Irvine, said: “The toilets and pavilion at Lennox Park are being marketed for lease and the council is pleased to confirm that we are currently finalising the legal paperwork for the lease of the pavilion which we hope to conclude over the next few weeks.

“The toilets remain vacant and will continue to be marketed for lease. All enquiries should be directed to the council’s assets and estates team.”
