Local groups get civic pride cash
MORE than £28k has been given to 17 organisations in the area, to help with projects aiming improve the local environment.
The organisations had applied to the new Civic Pride Community Action Fund for help with projects such as picking up litter, tidying up green areas and planting trees.
Councillor Alan Moir said: “When we launched the Civic Pride Community Action Fund I encouraged as many groups as possible to apply and the response has been very positive.
“I’m pleased that we have seen a wide variety of organisations from right across the authority tap into this fund.
“We should be proud of our communities and by working together, the council and local groups can build on what we have and make a difference to the environment. These projects will make our towns and villages greener, more attractive places to live in.”
