HELPING SICK KIDS . . . a member of staff from LA Fitness in Milngavie has raised £468 for Yorkhill Children’s Hospital by doing a 16 hour sponsored spin recently.

Stewart Mullen (32) has three children aged 12, eight and five and two of them suffer from a condition which has needed ongoing treatment at Yorkhill - so he wanted to give something back to the hospital.

The spin instructor and receptionist cycled non-stop from 6am to 10pm on Thursday, December 6 in a bid to raise funds to buy children in Yorkhill toys and games for Christmas.

He said: “I’d like to thank Milngavie and Bearsden Herald for making the community aware of my goal.

“And the support from LA Fitness members and staff was amazing as the task was far from easy.

“I struggled a bit in the last six hours when it became painful and if it wasn’t for people encouraging me I don’t think I could have managed it.

“Thanks to the generosity of members at the club, my children’s schools and friends and family I raised a good sum of money.”

Stewart is here with nurse Lorna Berry at Yorkhill Children’s Hospital.
