Youngsters in Bearsden are in for a summer of fun and entertainment - all thanks to a newly revamped playpark in Whitehurst Park.

The new community facility has been upgraded as part of East Dunbartonshire Council’s five-year Capital Play Programme,

The park was officially opened recently by deputy council leader Councillor Ashay Ghai.

It has a wide range of play equipment for children of all ages, including multi-swings, slides and climbing frames.

Councillor Ghai said: “I was delighted to open this fantastic play area, which I am sure is going to be a much-welcomed amenity for local children and families.

“And it couldn’t be a better time of year to do this, with summer just beginning.

“All we need now is some great weather to allow local children to make the most of this fantastic new playpark.”

Children from Castlehill Primary were consulted about the type of play equipment that should be provided.

Head teacher Suzanne Kenney said: “The children really enjoyed being consulted about the development of the playpark. It’s great to see how some of their ideas have shaped the final design.”
