Jobs safe as East Dunbartonshire Council sets budget

THERE will be NO cuts to jobs and front line services after East Dunbartonshire Council (EDC) set its budget for the coming year.

Councillors agreed a fiscal package last Thursday night, incorporating the £3.4million worth of savings, which will be achieved by not filling vacancies and selling off properties, agreed at a special meeting in December.

EDC agreed to freeze council tax for a further year and will maintain Police Board funding and the teacher-pupil ratio.

In addition, £1milion has been found to fund a range of programmes aimed at enhancing communities.
