Parents have slammed irresponsible motorists who are driving through a Bearsden playpark to take their children to the new BMX track.
While Susan Thomson (39), mum of eight-year-old Natalie, welcomed the ‘fantastic’ track at Langfaulds Park in Baljaffray, she said: “People have been driving their transit vans through the park to get to it.
“Last Friday there were three vans and three cars parked there.
“This isn’t a public road and locals cannot believe that people would be so stupid.
“It’s so dangerous, there are lots of young children around.
“There are safe parking places nearby which people should use.”
Councillor Duncan Cumming and residents have praised East Dunbartonshire Council for its swift action - they erected wooden posts in concrete into the ground, they also plan to put in chicane and a proper gate at one end with bollards at the other.
These items have been ordered and will be installed as soon as possible.
Grace Irvine, director of neighbourhood services, said: “We’re very excited to be delivering this excellent BMX track but disappointed that people have been using it before it’s ready and posing a danger to others.
“We moved quickly to respond to residents’ concerns and as a temporary measure blocked access by vehicles to the site.”
