Grainger welcomes Glasgow shortlist for Youth Olympics

BEARSDEN Olympian Katherine Grainger has welcomed the news that Glasgow has been shortlisted for the 2018 Youth Olympiics.

The gold medal rower from London 2012 was at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena recently and following the shortlist that included Buenos Aires in Argentina, and Medellin in Columbia said the games were a great stepping stone to competing at the highest level.

The former Bearsden Acadmey pupil is Britain’s most successful female rower.

She said: “The city has a proven track record of delivering major international sporting events in world-class facilities in front of passionate crowds. The city would be the perfect host for the 2018 Youth Olympics.”
