You could find yourself

rubbing shoulders with some famous faces in Milngavie and Bearsden this year when the area is used as a film location.

Bearsden filmmaker Ryan Hendrick has managed to get a star-studded cast, including former Dr Who Sylvester McCoy and Chewin The Fat’s Ford Kiernan, for his low-budget independent road movie - ‘Journey Bound’ - which will be filmed later this year.

And while he won’t reveal specific locations, he says there are lots of potentially great places to film in and around Milngavie and Bearsden.

Former Douglas Academy pupil and BAFTA nominated filmmaker, Ryan, said: “The film follows the journey of a young lawyer from Glasgow through the Highlands to the top of Scotland (Cape Wrath).

“Obviously it would be impossible to film at every location along the way so we have picked some places which have a general West of Scotland look to them.

“Having grown up here I know some great places nearby which look fantastic when the sun comes out.

“This is a beautiful area and, as well is that, it’s not far to travel to Loch Lomond - where we will also be doing a lot of our scenes.

“Another place we’ve chosen for filming is Skye, as we wanted the film to look epic and stunning.

“Skye has impressive massive vistas, mountains and lochs - there is a wide variety of scenery on the island so it will look like we’ve filmed in more places.”

Other big names appearing in the film include Altered Images singer and Gregory’s Girl star Clare Grogan and Frazer Hines from Emmerdale, who is also an executive producer for the project.

Ryan said: “We took the view that there are no limits with our casting and aimed high.

“We approached people we thought would be ideal for the roles and it was very gratifying when they agreed. You get a lot of rejections in the film industry, especially in Scotland, so having such great people on board is wonderful and it’s great that they think we are right to make a film like this.”

Gregory’s Girl star Clare Grogan said: “I read the script and simply loved it.”

Kenny Boyle, David Newman, Clare Sheppard, Natalie Clark and Caitlin Blackwood are also in the cast.
