The second annual Bearsden Festival kicks-off next Saturday with the community coming together to stage a series of family fun events.
Organiser Rev Roddy Hamilton from New Kilpatrick Church in Bearsden said the idea is to celebrate life in Bearsden.
He added, “With that in mind, on Saturday August 23, Bearsden Festival will be breathing life into the pages of our very own unique weekend paper.”
Around Bearsden Cross, various articles in the newspaper will be turned into live events. The motoring section will become a collection of vintage cars.
The food and drink supplement will become a series of workshops and tastings in the local restaurants and food retailers.
The puzzle pages will also explode into life with chess masters, giant crosswords and classic street games.
Rev. Hamilton added, “Our arts review will become an interactive art installation.
“A travel section will offer 30-minute tours around Bearsden and Milngavie in a vintage bus.
“It will take people to the local Gala Day in the High Park at Langfaulds run by Castlehill Baptist Church. For the kids, the comic strip will be a live puppet show.”
The festival runs from 10am to 2pm in and around new Kilpatrick Church and Bearsden Cross with the Gala Day from noon to 4pm at Langfaulds Park. The Community Concert is at 7.30pm in New Kilpatrick Parish Church. All events are free. For more, contact 0141 942 8827.
